Re: Create workflow for a New Blueprint

This typically happens when a Blueprint is assigned to a group, but the group does have a reservation, or a reservation for the type of blueprint that is tryign to be provisioned.  Make sure the blueprint is for type vCetner if that is what you are provisioning against and ensure that the group has a virutal(vCenter) reservation.

Thanks,

Sid

Can't access XP folders after VM move

I've created an XP VM in VMWare 4.1.2 that works fine on my iMac where it was created. I wanted to use it on my MacBook Air via an external drive (not enought room on HD). When I opened it File > Open in VMWare, I said I had moved it. Now whenever I try to save anything in Windows it says permission denied. What steps should I take to fix this and connect it properly via my Air via an external drive?

I have two identical network card.  One for the first Network for switch 1 (default), and the other created.  Surely the second network card is not faulty as on ESXi 4.1, the configuration works perfectly.  I can see it on the network properties and can see the ip range of the second network.  If I move my guest vmachine (windows 7) to the second network, I cannot get an IP deployed by the router.  I also tried to static configure my IP, but cannot resolve to outside (internet).

But first of all, thanks for the response.  Frankly, I thought I was shooting in air making a post.  I tried to see if anyone has encountered this issue.  I choose ESXi because I could move virtually my guest machines into another network incase of an internet failure on the first network.  But the second network just can't resolved outside nor cannot get an IP from the DHCP service.  With ESxi 4.1,  everything works as planned.

Re: VM Workstation.

Usually is quite clear what you have to do.

But note that you can do in several way (GUI, CLI, ...) and seems that doesn't matter how you do the task, but which kind of result you can reach.

Re: How Do I export SSL certificate and setup on Horizon Workspace

Many times you must import the whole certificate chain and your private key must be in a format starting with -----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY.

You create your cert chain simply by paste cert - intermediate - root into the field. Looking something like this;

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
DSERQ2....... <certificate>
-----END CERTIFICATE-----

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
WDRWEA....... <intermediate>
-----END CERTIFICATE-----

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
WFFEEWEA....... <ROOT cert>
-----END CERTIFICATE-----

Please don't use Internet Explorer when doing this operation. IE is famous for corrupting the cert.

Powercli for network adapters

1. I need to remove all network cards of a VM, the problem is I dont know how many network cards this VM has. Does anyone know how to write a script for it?

2. New-NetworkAdapter -VM $vm -NetworkName "VM Network" -WakeOnLan -StartConnected

Is WakeOnLan enabled by default if I add the network card manually from VI Client?

sorry should have been more clear:

i want workstation 9 to connect automagically to an esxi 5 host so i can connect to a vm running on that host

you can start a local vm in workstation if you provide the machine name but i haven't found a way yet to connect to a specific esxi 5 host, and certainly not found a way to connect to a specific vm on that esxi 5 host...

Re: HA Failover Capacity Levels!

Hi Duncan,

I reserved 25% failover capacity that means 1 node's  resources available for failover out of 4 nodes? i.e 24GB RAM, 28.8 GHz CPU Available for failover?

or CPU=96%(Current failover capacity)-25%(Configured failover capacity)=71%=>115GHz(total cluster cpu)*71%=81.65GHz CPU available for new VM power on?

and for Memory=93%(Current failover capacity)-25%(Configured failover capacity)=68%=>95.96GB(total cluster memory)*68%=65.25GB RAM Available for new VM power ons?

1) Try something like this

Get-VMMyVM|Get-NetworkAdapter|Remove-NetworkAdapter-Confirm:$false

2) Yes. But there are some problems with WOL and the E1000 NIC, use the VMXNET3 if you want to use WOL

Re: SRM Database Location

In generell it´s mostly not necessary to failover your vCenter & SRM server in a DR scenario, because you have (and need to) both indepentenly running on your recovery site.

If you still want to achive this you need indeed to have everything within your virtual infrastucture.

Mario
